Take Your Bloody Mary to the Next Level
This novel take on the iconic BM melds a few sources of heat and a few sources of freshness — for depth and clarity of flavour. And though we're in danger of tooting our own flute, it wouldn't reach such astonishing heights with any vodka but Fox Reds, whose botanical complexity and gentle fire are purpose-made for the task at hand.
Method
- Begin by adding 50ml of Fox Reds Vodka to a cocktail shaker
- Add your horseradish, Worcester sauce and seasoning
- Add your tomato juice. With the requisite flair, add a generous splash of Tio Pepe sherry and adorn with a squeeze of lemon juice. Note that we don't want our Bloody Mary to be overtly lemony, but the citricity enlivens the other ingredients
- Top up the shaker with ice and mix together with the appropriate amount of vigour — for a good 20 seconds
- Strain over ice into the glass of your choice. Rupert prefers a tumbler, and one with some heft
- Garnish with an olive or a pickle (your choice) alongside a strip of crispy streaky bacon
- Enjoy whenever and however you like; we enjoy ours equally as an aperitif, a nightcap or, more often than not, the morning after the night before.
